This week, the duo explain their most recent “Life with Hungry Lucy” episode about the new song called “Erase Her”. You may view said video at this link. In their travels of the week, vinyl is rediscovered in a glorious way and new OPM’s are found! CB’s new (but old) finding was Demis Roussos. A lovely large fella with a sweet voice, who (we are happy to learn) is still going strong. War-N’s OPM’s this week are Coldplay and their new free release “Violet Hill” and Clara Rockmore. Clara was THE theremin player of all theremin players! See for yourself down below.
Many other fine tidbits are mentioned. You’ll just have to listen for yourself! You can also go see what Christa Belle is thinking and how War-N is twittering.
Until next week, not everyone is Lily Allen!!

Does it get any better? … probably.
So, what’s on YOUR mind? Thoughts, concerns, ramblings??

In episode 102 of Tea with Hungry Lucy, Christa and War-N talk about a weekend of shooting video for the upcoming series of video podcasts (next week). We also hear a preview of yet another new song, entitled "Just Imagine" that was penned just 24 short hours prior. Christa tells us about the inspiration for the lyrics and War-N spouts some oddness about space cars and sharp angles. Sometimes it's hard to know what goes on it that boy's head! OPMs this week delve into Yazoo and their upcoming reunion tour and DVD as well as Halou and their new EP "Sawtooth" available on Feb 12th. Recent film viewings shared by Christa are "Black Snake Moan" and "The Last King of Scotland" ... both excellent films. Then Christa goes off to prepare a delicious Gnudi dinner that War-N films!
Tune in to SecondShifters.com next Saturday, Feb. 16th at 10 PM EST for an interview with Hungry Lucy. Immediately following the interview will be a live chat with War-N and Christa.

In episode 77 of Tea with Hungry Lucy, both War-N and Christa fixate on the word actually (actually) as they review their performance in the town square of Cincinnati. Neither really liked the broad daylight and lack of HL “fullness”. That means the video is coming back folks! War-N spoke of Prince and his method to release his new album. Retailers are angry but War-N and Christa think Prince should be able to do whatever the hell he pleases with his own music! Christa shares the recipe for tonight’s dinner (a veggie ragu) as War-n salivates in the background.
OPM’s for this week include Miriam and Areonaut (specifically, the instrumental Relics collection). Christa also gives a nice plug to Contagious Graphics as the HL merch supplier of choice. oh yes … SHOUTOUT is back!
The podcast ends with a live performance of Blue Dress … the song that started it all.

This week brings a tired Christa Belle & War-N to your ears post-rehearsal and post-dinner. The sleepy, full-bellied kids ramble on for a few minutes about this and that. Some of which including the new iTunes cd sales without copy protection and the surprising number of sales this brought. Good for them! OPM’s included Echostream from CB’s music rack and Siobhan Donaghy from War-N’s list. CB vows to shut the hell up about explaining every little gardening thing she does to those around her, for fear of losing all ties to family and friends!! Funny how things we love, others don’t so much. War-N talks more about “Surface vs. Substance” and wants to dig deeper into where HL’s surface went. War-N recalls watching CB and her Daddy take a drive in a rockin’ truck. A kick-ass 87 Chevy truck that Christa’s Dad rebuilt from the body up. Yeeeeeee haw!!! Ahhh…nothing like Fireworks that Grandma used to make. Reminds me of home.
What are your thoughts on surface vs. substance? here.

Episode 73 of Tea with Hungry Lucy begins with Christa and War-N performing part of a brand new song (born today) called “Willow Moon”. Let us know what you think of it. Christa tells us of the inspiration for the lyrics and War-N talks about his some methods of his writing methods. He’s been trying to break through some creative resistance. Steven Pressfield’s book, “The War of Art” seems to be helping. W and CB wish each other a Happy Anniversary on their 7th year of marriage … time flies when you’re having oh-so-much fun! Whilst doing a bit of research War-N found several videos posted on YouTube in which some fine folks have used HL tunes. Among them are re-edits of Final Fantasy (We Won’t Go), Troy (Bed of Flames), Robin & Marian (A Girl Alone) and Grey’s Anatomy (Her Song) plus a lovely dark video using Claire Voyant’s mix of Stay. Thanks to all that created these lovely videos. Music recommendations (OPM) this week are Tori Amos‘ new disc “American Doll Posse” and the upcoming release from Paula Cole entitled “Courage” (promo video).

Yet another oddity of independent broadcasting graces our ears this week as War-N and Christa tell of their week, including a fun evening with Amy (Diet Audio) and Dan (Shitkickers). Sunday was spent with some mild creative success and a little frustration. The duo crack back into the OPM (Other People’s Music) segment in which Christa shares her spiritual enlightenment from Mavis Staples (NPR segment) and War-N chats about Junior Boys and Lenka. War-N also tells us about remixes he is starting for Lovespirals and Diet Audio. Christa is sure to add some vocal delights as well. While it’s hard to discern the meaning, CB & W then launch into some alternative storytelling and wander off to dinner. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any more (Bindlestiff) strange!

Always remember to wash your hands, kids! So, this week brings the winners of the “Make Your Own Damn T-Shirt” contest, which you can view HERE, and ramblings of a bunch of non-sequitors! Find out who Penelope is, how Christa looks with two spoons on her face and what happened to Trevor’s head! No OPM’s this week, as HL’s been too busy to really give anyone a good mentioning. “To Kill a King” went into it’s 4th cd pressing, so the T-Shirts will be made later this year…before the time the new album comes out
War-N discusses his lust over a new keyboard (Alesis Fusion 8HD) and asks for anyone who already owns this fine piece of equipment to give their feedback. CB mentions the movie “Capote” and the wonderful quote, which she nearly ruins by quoting it wrong, and how well Mr. Hoffman did in portraying Truman Capote.

Musical delights galore this week as Christa and War-N play a live performance of the brand new song, Sunday Smiled. The duo recap their Friday night performance at Diet Audio’s release party. War-N’s neurotic account is captured on the HL blog. Christa had a different view. Speaking of Diet Audio, War-N plays a bit of Diet Audio’s lovely song, Fisa Cassatta, from their brand new CD, Ecrasez I’infame … which War-N didn’t even attempt to pronounce. Get the CD from CDBaby now!
Christa shares an email from Bibo who tells us of a Praise Seitan T-shirt, the Post Punk Kitchen and the tough decisions of his Amazon wish list. Also in this week’s chat War-N goes on a little rant about SoundExchange, and what the hell gives them the right to collect royalties for musicians before asking. Christa transforms into one of her MANY personalities (we’re calling her Edith) and War-N recounts a tale of ice cream treats and pendulous breasts … what could be better? T-shirt contest winners next week!

What a lot of stuff!! In this episode, we learn a lot of facts about Soy, and Soy Isoflavones, how to make a traditional Italian Ragu with the help of a fabulous book, “The Splendid Table” (by Lynne Rosetto Kasper), which also has a podcast of the same name. Speaking of soy, Dr. Andrew Weil is mentioned, so you should go and learn about him because he’s good for you! War-N talks about HL’s new profile on Virb.com as well as how EMI will be making their entire catalog available DRM-free and higher quality via iTunes in May. The same for us indies is in the works (thank you Derek Sivers). Then, we go on a totally different plane and learn the meaning of the term “macaroni sex noise”! Christa talks with a chocolate egg in her mouth and burps more times than you can count from her non-squeaky church chair! A story behind the song Christa was listening to in the car is told, and the artist just happened to be ThouShaltNot and their song “Come A Time” (from the album ‘The White Beyond‘), which HL play a clip of for help understanding the story. War-N announces his trip to San Francisco for the Web 2.0 Expo (April 15-18) and invites people to come on over to meet up for a cuppa coffee if they’re in the area!
